Hi. I am Ashley Taylor.

I am the creative soul behind AM Taylor ART. My children (two girls who make life…interesting) have helped me rekindled my life-long love for art and writing to create a one-of-a-kind art shop specializing in greeting cards and other unique gifts. My hope is to share a little bit of a smile with you.

Me… the early years

As a young child, I could be found learning a variety of media from cross-stitch and pastels to paints and pencils. My second love was the written word, so, when not creating visual arts, I was reading and writing stories. As I grew up, I began making my own clothes and my artistic abilities became well known by teachers and peers alike. I had many opportunities to show off my creativity by assisting the drama department with prop design and heading a video year book committee, eventually earning the art award upon graduation from high school.

Naturally, the next stop for me was a college art program. Having spent my high school years narrowing down a field, my love for architecture and furniture design won out over the rest and I set out to learn the field of interior design.

After college I began my career working for a small design firm. I enjoyed the variety of experiences involved in working so closely with the business owner, getting a glimpse into the peaks and valleys of business ownership. I settled in southern Ontario, soon getting married and starting my family. My first daughter was born in 2009 and I made the switch to becoming a stay-at-home mom. My second daughter’s birth soon followed and I was settled into my new role.

Today…

That brings me today. If you have read this far thank you for sticking with me. When my youngest started school and I was left with the realization that a part of my life, my routine, was changing dramatically, I began AMTaylorART. I have to admit, the mom-guilt was #real. Do I get a job outside the home? Stay at home baking cookies? It made me begin to examine what I really wanted for me. My priorities have changed over the years since being in the workforce and I now want a career that would keep me at home as much as possible and creating things to share and sell seemed like a natural choice. Fast forward a couple of years and my ability to stay home with my girls has put us on the path to homeschooling and full-time travel. A dream come true!

The Future…

As time goes on I have a lot of plans for the future. Some have deadlines, others do not. One day I would love to write a book, especially to write and illustrate a children’s book. I am also eager to become a better photographer and to become a web design wiz.  I have big dreams of showing my girls all the world has to offer.
